Safety has the absolute highest priority for Scandinavian Divers. This covers equipment and people as well as procedures.

Our equipment is of the highest quality and dependability. It is checked and maintained on a daily basis - often several times each day. The boat equipment is specifically tailored for diving. The boat here is of the same type the Philippine Coast Guard uses because of its unusually high stability and reliability. NOTE: We ALWAYS bring an Oxygen tank with us in the boat. |
|
With respect to the people, there is no substitute for experience. Therefore, our instructors, dive masters, and boat crews have from three to twelve years experience, and are recognized as some of the very best on Mindoro. Furthermore, all instructors and dive masters have passed first aid courses and PADI Rescue Diver courses. |

We do our best to anticipate anything that might happen. It must be
realized, however, that forces of nature play a large role in the world of
diving. Even though the risk is minimal, the unexpected might happen. We
have, therefore, made detailed emergency plans that are drilled on a
regular basis.
When we go out diving in our speedboat we always have a VHF radio along so we are in contact with other boats as well as the diving center and Scandinavian Divers Inc. Through this we can also request a rescue helicopter.
|
|
We always have a first aid kit, drinking water, and extra equipment on board. When going diving we always strive to have small groups (maximum six people), and never more than 10 divers on board the boat (where we always have a crew of two to help with the equipment). In Batangas, which is 30 minutes by boat and 10 minutes from the dive sites by helicopter, we have a brand new pressure chamber which is manned 24 hours a day. If we sail more than 10 minutes away from the diving center we always make sure to have pure oxygen on board. All members of our boat crews are trained in first aid and in handling diving accidents. These skills are thoroughly refreshed at least once a year. In part because we put safety first we have not had a diving accident so far (knock on wood). At Scandinavian Divers Inc. you'll only find bubbles, not troubles! |
|
Under the heading "Places to Dive" it is mentioned that at many diving sites you will likely find sharks. Many people have a great fear of these creatures. We can assure you, though, that the sharks in the waters around Mindoro are very peaceful, and no incident of shark attacks on humans have been reported. Yet.
